Preventive Rehabilitation, commonly known as Prehab, is the practice of performing exercise rehabilitation to strengthen a workers weaknesses before an injury has happened. This is normally determined after a review by a qualified manual therapist, who has identified the weakness or loss of motor control in a group of muscles, that can then be addressed by a targeted strengthening or fitness program, preventing any future injuries caused by underlying issues.
Prehab is a program of strengthening and general fitness exercises to improve a weakness identified in a patient after they have had a physical assessment. These targeted exercises can be tailored for the patient’s required level, taking into consideration their overall fitness, age and exercise history.

Prehab delivered by a physiotherapist is a service that is beneficial to workers in a range of scenarios and can address any number of health issues. It is recommended that all workers undergo a capacity and physical assessment and any deficit findings addressed with a Prehab program.
