When MRI Findings Don’t Equal Injury
—Why Onsite Physiotherapy Matters More Than Imaging in Workplace Shoulder Pain
Read moreThis program is being led by Andrew Lao, Manager & Workplace Health Physiotherapist at Employ Health, with the support of Employ Health Director, Ryan Tiernan. Both Andrew and Ryan are graduates of UQ and are grateful to return to campus—not only to teach, but to inspire students with their knowledge, skills, and passion for workplace health.
“It’s a privilege to return to UQ and contribute to the education of future physiotherapists. Our goal is to show students how impactful physiotherapists can be in preventing injuries and supporting healthier workplaces.” – Andrew Lao
Our collaboration with UQ extends beyond classroom teaching. Employ Health also provides bursary placements in workplace health for final year students, giving them the opportunity to gain real-world experience in the field. These placements allow students to apply their learning in practical settings, and to see first-hand the value of physiotherapy in building safer, healthier workplaces.
By sharing our expertise and supporting student development, Employ Health is helping to grow the workplace health physiotherapy profession. We believe strongly in expanding the role that physiotherapists play—not just in treatment, but in the prevention of workplace injury and the promotion of proactive health strategies.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with the University of Queensland and to seeing more graduates step confidently into this rewarding and vital area of physiotherapy.
