Supervisors are your key personnel when it comes to creating positive culture change within the workplace. After undertaking training, supervisors will be able to set the example in regards to proactive workplace practices, including using appropriate language and protocols around workers to ensure they are working in a supportive and healthy environment.
There is a substantial body of evidence supporting that the quicker an injured worker receives correct injury advice and management, the better their injury and return to work outcomes. Supervisors are trained to effectively facilitate Employ Health’s Early Intervention system ensuring workers get the support they need as soon as possible.
Being out in the workplace environment for the majority of their time, supervisors have an unparalleled knowledge of work tasks within the workplace. Following training, supervisors will be able to accurately identify primary manual risk factors associated with work tasks, allowing for further risk assessment and control measures to take place in order to mitigate the risk.
Employ Health works with businesses ranging from 15 to 2000+ staff, implementing onsite programs for single sites through to multi-sites both locally and nationally throughout NZ and Australia. This experience in combination with latest evidence-based workplace injury management, has resulted in a training package designed to deliver the most effective workplace injury management and return to work outcomes to your workplace.
As a leading performer in Workplace Health, Employ Health’s team of physiotherapists are all held to an extremely high standard of performance. Physiotherapists conducting supervisor training are regularly reviewed internally and undergo extensive training to ensure that professional and meticulous assessments are conducted every time.
Employ Health currently provides Supervisor Training across a multitude of workplaces and industries. We recognise the fact that different workplaces and roles will have different requirements that do not benefit a one-size fits all assessment approach. Prior to commencing Supervisor Training we will establish the individual requirements of the assessment for the workplace and adapt the training and processes to meet the needs of the partner.
Supervisors are an integral part of workplace safety. They have an extensive knowledge of the work duties within a workplace and are the first point of contact for any work related incident. This makes the supervisor crucial for facilitating injury and risk management.
Health and Safety Responsibilities for Supervisors include: facilitating early injury intervention, providing suitable work duties for the injured worker, risk identification & management, and creating a supportive work environment.
Training is usually conducted in-person for supervisors with a practical assessment at the end of the session. Training can also be utilised on virtual platforms as required.
A safety officer is more heavily involved in the injury management of the worker and risk management of the workplace. Commonly a safety officer will develop a return to work plan and be heavily involved in implementing controls for tasks identified as having manual risk. A safety supervisors’ role is mainly facilitation and initiating correct management processes.
